Frequently Asked Questions

Clear, text-first answers about enrollment, materials, pacing, and access. If you can’t find what you need, submit your question and we’ll follow up by email.

Do I need prior experience?
No. Beginner courses start from clay prep, safety basics, and simple forms. Each module includes a checklist so you can progress without prior studio practice.
Are materials included?
Materials are not shipped. Instead, we provide a precise text checklist for clay types, beginner-friendly tools, and safe substitutes you can source locally. No images—just clear specifications and alternatives by budget.
How do online lessons work?
Lessons are structured as read-first steps with downloadable checklists and practice assignments. You’ll also get feedback templates to self-review: form symmetry, wall thickness, drying consistency, and finish quality.
Can I switch levels?
Yes. We recommend moving up once you can reproduce the key forms consistently (same dimensions and similar finish across 3–5 attempts). You can also revisit earlier drills anytime.
How much time should I plan per week?
Plan for 2–4 hours weekly for practice plus 20–40 minutes for reading and planning. If you have less time, you can follow the “minimum viable practice” schedule included in each unit.
What if I don’t have a kiln?
You can complete many exercises as greenware or air-dry practice to build technique. If you want fired results, we list practical options: local studios with firing services, community kilns, and small-batch firing agreements.
How do I keep pieces from cracking?
Cracking usually comes from uneven thickness or drying too quickly. We teach a simple text-based control routine: consistent wall thickness, compressing the base, staged drying (covered → vented → open), and joining methods that reduce stress.
